MSc bat skills training, University of Leeds

We run an annual field course for MSc Biodiversity and Conservation students at the University of Leeds. The course combines lectures and practical sessions to cover all aspects of bat ecology and conservation, survey methods (including acoustic surveys and echolocation call analysis, trapping and handling), and the identification of UK bat species. We demonstrate the use of bat detectors and harp traps over several nights on location. Many students that complete the course go on to work in ecological consultancy.
