Bat monitoring and habitat management for the National Trust
We were commissioned by the National Trust to carry out quantitative monitoring on the Croft Castle estate to assess the impact of wood pasture restoration on local bat colonies and advise on future habitat management. We designed and carried out extensive acoustic surveys, including both walked transects and static bat detector deployments. We analysed the data using statistical tests, created species-specific GIS maps of the results and produced a detailed report including recommendations for future habitat management and long term monitoring on the estate. We presented our results to National Trust staff on location.
